Objective: To equip experienced immigration practitioners with advanced knowledge and practical strategies for effectively handling eTA, Visitor Visa (Tourist & Business), and Super Visa applications, while navigating current IRCC policies and procedures.

Detailed Lesson Plan:

Part 1: eTA and Visitor Visas: Complexities and Strategies (90 minutes)

  • Introduction (15 minutes)

o   Welcome and Agenda Overview

o   Importance of Temporary Entry

o   eTA: More Than Just a Formality

o   Visitor Visas: Beyond Basic Requirements

o   The IRCC Digital Landscape

  • Advanced eTA Assessments and Troubleshooting (20 minutes):
    • In-depth analysis of complex eTA eligibility issues, including previous refusals, criminal records, and misrepresentations.
    • Strategies for addressing eTA refusals and navigating alternative visa options.
    • Discussion on the impact of inadmissibility on eTA applications.
  • Visitor Visas (Tourist & Business): Advanced Strategies (25 minutes):
    • Strategies for handling complex visitor visa applications, including those involving business visitors, frequent travelers, and applicants from high-risk countries.
    • Analyzing the impact of financial stability, travel history, and ties to the home country on visa approvals.
    • Discussion on the difference between a business and tourist visa, and how to properly represent each.
  • Application Portal Walkthrough (eTA & Visitor Visas) (30 minutes):
    • Detailed walkthrough of the IRCC online application portal for eTA and visitor visa applications.
    • Strategies for accurate document uploads and troubleshooting common portal issues.
    • Walk through of common errors, and how to avoid them.

Part 2: Super Visas, CICC Code, and Advanced Case Management (90 minutes)

  • Super Visa: Advanced Eligibility and Documentation (30 minutes):
    • In-depth analysis of Super Visa eligibility criteria, including financial requirements, medical insurance, and sponsorship obligations.
    • Strategies for addressing complex family dynamics and demonstrating genuine parent/grandparent relationships.
    • Discussion of the nuances of Super Visa applications.
  • Avoiding CICC Code Violations (15 minutes):
    • Focus on Sections of the Code of Professional Conduct related to eTA, Visitor (Tourist & Business), and Super Visa applications.
    • Case studies and examples of potential Code violations and how to avoid them.
  • Advanced Case Management and Policy Updates (20 minutes):
    • Strategies for handling challenging cases involving multiple applications, inadmissibility issues, and procedural fairness letters.
    • Analysis of recent policy and procedural changes related to eTAs, visitor visas, and Super Visas.
    • Discussion of where to find the most up to date information regarding these types of applications.
  • Case Studies and Q&A (25 minutes):
