Canadian Immigration Law and Study Permits (30 minutes)
· Overview of Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR) related to study permits
· Important IRPR sections: s 214, s 215(1)-(2), s 216(1), s 217(1)-(2), s 220, s 220.1 (1)
· Key principles and objectives relevant to study permits and work permits.
· Discussion on the significance of these changes for prospective immigrants and consultants.
· Ethical considerations in advising clients on study and work permits.
2. The Study Permit Process. (30 minutes)
· Eligibility criteria, required documents, and the application process.
· The role of Designated Learning Institutions (DLI).
· Revolutionary changes made on Dec 7, 2023, and Jan 22, 2024
o DLI confirming acceptance letters with IRCC.
o Analysis behind the changes with reference to Statistics Canada data

o How to enhance the approval chances for PGWP and extension.
o Addressing gaps in study, part-time status, and online courses.

· Dealing with refusals, inadmissibility on medical or criminal grounds, and misrepresentation.
